DAN TORINUS

LCSW

Dan is a psychotherapist and social worker who works in Madison and the greater Dane County area. He draws from a wide breadth of scientific, philosophical, cultural, and spiritual perspectives to help find wholistic approaches toward health and improved wellbeing for the individuals with whom he works. Dan values simplicity, clear communication, and authenticity. His approach is respectful, open, curious, supportive, and pragmatic.

Beyond varied life experiences that inform his practice, Dan has a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College, a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maine, Orono, and was trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dan is both a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Acupuncturist.

In addition to theories of psychotherapy appropriate to the many challenges of living today, Dan is interested in functional medicine, including understanding more fully the biochemical basis of wellbeing, stress, and trauma, and the ways in which mindfulness, nutrition, and fitness can contribute to an enjoyable and meaningful life.

Dan follows individuals and families throughout the life course. He is a generalist comfortable working with a wide range of situations and challenges, but has a particular interest in relationships, trauma, anxiety, pain, and strategies for optimal personal satisfaction and growth. Dan has worked in a variety of settings including a free clinic in Chicago, a small private practice and later a rural hospital on the coast of Maine, a county jail, a large community mental health agency, and now in Madison and Dane County with Orchestra X.

Dan also has a thriving Private Practice: torinustherapy.com
